An Invincible Summer is a lifestyle brand created by the Universal Hope Initiative to provide employment opportunities for women working to free themselves from poverty.
We currently employ women in Johnsonville, Liberia; Rincon, Puerto Rico; Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to make handbags, clothing, journals, and jewelry. Each woman is paid up front for the products she makes and any proceeds are donated back to UHI supported projects.
We will be launching an online shop in November 2017 at www.aninvinciblesummer.org.
Please follow us on Instagram @an_invincible_summer.
Our work in Liberia
Meet Anita, Viola, Naomi, and Joyce.
Viola, Naomi, and Joyce were the top three graduates from the Bridge's tailoring program and Anita, an experienced tailor, mentors and guides the team as they learn how to run their small business.
Our Liberian team makes aprons, bags, and clothing for our product line.
Our work in Puerto Rico
We have two groups of women working in Puerto Rico. Our first group, based in Rincon, includes Jenny and Vini who live in the Santa Rosa Housing Community. Jenny and Vini are the creative minds behind the burlap and African wax fabric bags in our product line. Jenny and Vini also make the covers for our handmade, eco-friendly journals and stuffed animals.
Our second group, is based out of Siempre Vivas, a domestic violence resource center in Mayaguez. We employ several women in partnership with Siempre Vivas to make sea glass jewelry and paper for our journals.
