An Invincible Summer

Supports the creative work of women by building spaces where women can feel connected and share their art with others, while also supporting their families and making a positive impact on their communities.

Here’s how we work…

We make wholesale purchases from both emerging and established women artisans, selling these products in retail spaces, and using the proceeds to either:

  1. Reinvest in their creative work OR

  2. Fund the community projects we support.

Important Definitions…

Emerging Artisan: An emerging artisan’s work is fully or substantially supported by AIS. We buy their tools and material, as well as provide training, branding, and input on designs. You know your product was made by an emerging artisan if the item is tagged with an AIS product tag.

Established Artisan: An established artisan designs their own products, has their own equipment, and buys their own materials. They are generally small business owners with their own branding and social media presence. Our wholesale purchases help fund their creative work, providing more financial stability and predictability. In turn, their products help to boost our inventory and sales, allowing us to support more women and fund more initiatives. Examples of some of the established artisans you can find in our retail spaces include: Cosmic Sole and Beads of Rincon from Puerto Rico, as well as Trashie Treasures from Donegal, Ireland.

Meet some of our emerging artisans…

Jenny, Virginia, Zoheira, and Xashill in Puerto Rico.

Anita, Viola, Naomi, and Joyce work together in Johnsonville, Liberia. The income they earn helps pay for their children to attend school and their efforts support a childcare center, elementary school, and vocational school in their community.

Claudette, Cheri, Magalene, Simone, Chrislene, Kelange, Sherilyne, and Benite in Haiti. The income they are earning helps them to care for their families: increasing access to health care and education for themselves and their children. With proceeds from the sale of earrings through An Invincible Sunmer, they are starting a vocational scholarship fund for women in Fondwa.
